Arrow, all you need to do to make 50% citric acid is to combine equal weights of citric acid powder and distilled water.
I usually make one pint (US) at a time and store in an amber colored bottle.
The measurements to allow 50% citric acid to fit in a one pint bottle are:
280 grams of citric acid powder
280 grams of distilled water
Combine both ingredients & stir until dissolved. Warm water will speed up the process or immerse the mixing container inside a larger container holding warm water. (about 120 degrees F or 50 degrees C.
Keep stirring until dissolved. That can take a while.

Thanks. seems someone else posted the same question the other day and the response was to pack a small cup with citric acid and dump into a bowel then fill the same cup with distilled water and put into same bowel and mix...
so essentially, if this is right this is basically what I have been doing... I have been mixing 4 measured ounces (volume) with 4 ounces of water and mixing. the first few times I did this I had no problem. But this last time the crystals are not dissolving... and they are the same crystals I've used from the same container. Its been several weeks now and all the shaking and mixing in the world is not dissolving the crystals.
anyone have any ideas?

Arrow, that is strange. Your measuring method will work fine.
Are you using the same type of water? Distilled water would be best.
Sometimes I put the mixing container with the water & citric acid crystals in a small oven set at about 120 degrees F to warm up the solution. That can speed up the process.
Have you tried to make a new batch?

Im going to try warming it up. This has happened more than once. the other time it did eventually dissolve but it took many weeks and it also happened to someone I sent some mms and citric acid to.
yes, I always use distilled water.

I actually put mine on the stove with a small amount of heat under - (I have a gas stove and use "less" than simmer), and stir it at the same time with a dedicated wooden spoon. It usually finishes "melting" very quickly and never gets very hot.

So yes, heat does help. I put it in a pan and it started to dissolve at 110 degrees. I used a wisk on it for about 2 minutes and that did the trick. Thanks everyone.
I've noted that some people are using a 35% citric acid. Whats the opinons on that? Im sure it would dissolve without having to heat it. Are people having good results with 35%?

Don't want to seem dense, but do you know what the measurements would be for 35% CA for making a skin spray.

Would that be, for example, 3.5 oz ca to 3.5 oz water?

Use the same measurements, just let it activate at least 60 seconds before adding to the water.
