Starting Procedure for Cats

Jim Humble's 2019 Chapter 15 for animals doesn't describe how to do the starting procedure as far as I can tell.  Is it done the same way as for people - 8 hourly doses per day - for four days (following the three golden rules) before moving on to protocol 1000?

Also, can  you do less than 8 hourly doses since that is really difficult to accomplish?

Column 1: Starting Procedure dosage for animals. As with humans, always start with the  starting Procedure for animals. The three numbers in this column represent the gradual increase in the dosage. The first number is the starting dose, the second number is the middle dose, and the third number is the maximum dose that you would ever give an animal for that particular weight listed in the column for the Starting Procedure."

Also, can  you do less than 8 hourly doses since that is really difficult to accomplish? You can hourly dose for less than eight hours, but the recovery may not happen. 

The starting procedure for people is described in detail on pages 79-83. There is no such description for the starting procedure for animals. Is it basically for animals to do it over 3 days using the three doses listed in column 1, ie first day would use the 1st number, second day would use the 2nd number, and third day would use the 3rd number? Like for 10 pound animal it would be 1/8 drop on the 1st day for 8 doses, then 1/4 drop on the 2nd day for 8 doses, then 1/4 drop on the 3rd day for 8 doses. Then move on to protocol 1000 if needed and do the same again with the three numbers (1/2-3/4-1). Then move on as needed to next protocol. Following the three golden rules, one would continue as long as there is improvement, until the animal is well, or halve the dose if the animal worsens. Is that correct?
