No matter what I do my CDS comes out at about 1,000 ppm, and it tastes a bit funny

Is it possible using the same plastic oral syringe in both bottles contaminated one of the bottles with the activator and then leaving them in the cupboard somehow made them go out of date which makes the solution now taste funny? I feel they the 50 ppm solution tastes a bit funny. Or am I imagining it I wonder?

I often use the same syringes, but I rinse them twice with clean water and have not had any cross-contamination problems.

Tell us how you are making CDS using MMS and 4% HCL.

And how you measure CLO2 ppm.

4% HCl and 25% sodium chlorite. Shot glass, hermetically sealed clip jar, 240 ml water, 12+ hours per stage, in cupboard, 5 + 5 ml per stage, two stages.

I also noticed a couple of things: 1. I can never seem to end with shot glass liquid as light in colour as clip jar liquid. Always appears a bit darker and bit more orange (a little less yellow) in the shot glass after each stage, verses the clip jar solution. 2. I keep the leftovers from shot glass in a sealed glass bottle in the fridge and have noticed when that settles in the bottle it appears to have cloudy white stuff in the transparent yellow liquid and if I shake the bottle a little the whole solution in that bottle goes cloudy. I wonder does even this sound normal.

Okay, you are following my shot-glass and double-infusion method of making CDS that I posted 7 December 2015 on mmsinfo.org

Assuming the receiver is not leaking out too much CLO2 gas, you should be making 3000 ppm CDS.

If you are using 0-500 ppm CLO2 test strips, add 1ml of CDS to 59ml of water for testing. See instructions here:

I test with 30:1 ratio and multiply my results x30. This makes sense yeah?

It seems to me that at 30:1 ratio, your test strip should read 100. Then multiply the 100 times 30, equals 3000 ppm.

I leave my CDS to activate until the shot glass liquid is equal in color to the container liquid so as to get the most out of it, but it does take longer.

Also, if you aren't already, you might want to use distilled water to make CDS.

Here is a teaser that hopefully will be published in the near future. This is a variation of my shot-glass method. The photo shows the receiver jar in which the CDS was made and stored. The efficiency is 63% compared to my double infusion method of 45%, so less MMS is used with this new method.
