How to Dilute HCl from X% to 4% was created by Rev Ray
I bought a Litre of RECOCHEM Muriatic acid for $9
Says 18* baume and 28% Hydrochloric acid on label
So I have 28% HCl then? :pinch:
or 18?
And how to dilute down to 4%
And what if the reduction is not 4% but another value say 10% what happens?

I use this
easycalculation.com/chemistry/dilution-of-solutions.php
I enter 1 as volume in 1st field as I have 1 Litre of HCl
Next field is current concentration 28%
3rd field I want 4%
click calculate and the results show that by adding 1L of 28% HCl to 6L of water I will have 7L of 4% HCl
ALWAYS add acid to water not the other way around.
Glass 4L jug might be answer.

Thanks

That is what my calculator says, too.

Why is it so important to first put water and then the acid (HCl)?
For me it is handier to calculate in smaller portions to better comprehend the mixture...

Regards, Simone

Thank you

Ps: I am still waiting for Jim Humble to fully license the CDH and put a film on youtube. Would be great reassurance for me.

If you splash water out while adding acid, no real problem. If you splash acid out while adding water, can be an issue.

In time, with more testimonials from CDH users, I am sure Jim will write a protocol and add CDH to the Church Sacraments list.

There are YouTube video clips on how to make One Bottle CDH in English and Spanish:

I looked up what 18* Baume means and found this:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baum%C3%A9_scale

The Baumé scale is a pair of hydrometer scales developed by French pharmacist Antoine Baumé in 1768 to measure density of various liquids. One scale measures the density of liquids heavier than water and the other, liquids lighter than water. The Baumé of distilled water is 0.

Working all angles I believe this label clears up any confusion.
