We do it all the time. The only time we don't use DMSO is when someone has never used it before, we make sure and work it up slowly to make sure that it doesn't cause allergic reactions or something complex like unleashing some toxin that is being held in their system.
Just be aware of all potential sources of toxins that you are using. Most people are shocked when they really take a step back and learn about all of the crap that is in these soaps, lotions, perfumes, processed food/drink, pesticide soaked non-organic produce, VOC in their carpeting/mattresses/pillows, and on-and-on we go. Also, don't forget about the stuff that your drug dealer (at the clinic) talked you into.
DMSO will magnify things quickly, even when applied externally. When I use it on my healing Achilles, I can taste it in my saliva within a minute or 2.
With all of that said, it is wonderful stuff, but if you are full of toxins, proceed slowly to get them out.
