Making Larger CDS Quantities was created by John Flower
Hello, sorry if this has been asked before, I tried to look. I am interested in making larger amounts of CDS and wonder if there is something I can scale to any size. Can I simply double the glass jar process to make 500ml for example.

I am interested in electrolysis and a clo2 meter but do not have them currently and have failed to build one successfully in the past so might stick with acid reaction for now. Test strips seem to be inaccurate also.

The most I would likely make would be 2 litres at a time (to refill bottles for lazy family).

Thanks in advance

John, this 2500ml bottle should work to make about 2000ml of CDS in 3 hours time using the Quick CDS "Dry" method. The velcro strap keeps the glass stopper from being blown off by high pressure during the first 30 minutes of activation. See attached PDF file.

So to scale up, just times it out for the volume needed?  5g SCF x8 for 2 litres = 40grams SCF and same for CAC 40g

Wet just enough and then combine in tube and place in jar of 2 litres water. Seal. 3 hours later, complete.

Sounds good if so. Also if you came up with the recipe for the glass CDS jar in the first place, well done as it certainly has been adopted.

I will look at getting one of these bottles, or something that can seal well with pressure.

Thanks for your time and I will try it out.

This dry method has worked very well and it is much quicker. Seems a tiny bit stronger also (good).

I did overspill the first one (only just) but can still use it for the bath, but have it right for the second batch now.

Little longer than 3 hrs as it is cold here but so much faster and easier.

An impressive method.

Thanks again

John, take a look at this 2500ml boro 3.3 glass bottle. I have not had time to make a batch, yet, to refine the recipe. I usually aim for about 3500ppm CLO2 concentration.

Two liters of CDS can be made in this jar. I sent a kit to a friend in Los Angeles who also has not used it, but she will.

Note that the setup is all glass including the glass joint seal. This setup uses the Quick CDS Dry method and will produce CDS in about 3 hours time. The velcro keeps the glass stopper in place during the first 30 minutes of activation. After 30 minutes the pressure drops.

Try this recipe and revise as needed:

2 liters CDS water.
36g SCF + 40ml hot water
36g CAC + 32ml warm water
into the glass reactor tube.
