Making C D S was created by oldseeker
I recently made some CDS using the Andreas system,everything appeared to go well and i was quite
pleased with the results,but found that the tube used had burnt quite badly at the inlet side!! could this contaminate the mixture ? and would it be safe to use ? Also could you please give me specifcations for the correct plastic tubing required. regards and many thanks to all.

The test strips should be chlorine dioxide, not chlorine (alone).
Test Strips, Chlorine Dioxide, 0-500ppm, 50 strips/vial
I get mine from Amazon.com in the US. Or from W.W. Grainger - an industrial supply
For tubing, you can use silicone, glass tubing, or HDPE - (high density polyethelyne) My first batch was made with vinyl tubing that did something weird, will admit. The second batch had that strange "burning" - but what it was, more than anything, was gas left over in the tubing at the end of the "make" that hardened into some weird plug, which looked like a burn - CDS is naturally a dark yellow gas - I used that batch completely with no problem. (on myself
)

Oldseeker, I have made every mistake possible making CDS, I think,
except, I haven't had a bottle explode on me. I did have a situation once where sparks were flying back up a tubing when I put it outside to finish off=gassing (that was several CDS making episodes back) - (actually, I think it was the same one where I ended up with the plug at the end of the tubing).
I like this particular video because it's the most efficient use of the MMS that I've seen - even more efficient than MMS1, itself! And if you don't want to do the blowing, just hook it up to an aquarium pump, let some gas accumulate, and let the pump do the work.
My only comment is... and it wasn't mentioned in the video... I bet that the off- gassing would be better if the MMS and CA were kept at room temp rather than in the fridge - but that's not a big deal since with MMS the only thing you want to protect it from is UV, so it could be in a cabinet.
Once I use up the CDS I have stored in the fridge, I think I'll try this.
