Don't want our forum members to get confused.
Do NOT use Sodium hypochlorite - that is NOT MMS2.
Only use Calcium hypochlorite.

I have gotten Citric Acid 99.8% pure cristals powder. To reduce it to 50%... Do I do it by weight or by volume? Do I measure 50cc of destilled water, and then add enough cristal powder to complete 100 ccs... Or... Do i weigh 50grams of water and the pour 50 grams of Cristal powder???
I am also having trouble with the Cristal Powder of Sodium Cholrite... When I add the destilled water, it becommes cloudy, and remains that way. When I mix it equal parts with 50% Citric Acid, it turns a light yellow color... Not the dark caramel color I see on the video. What am I doing wrong?

It's all a weight measure - you would use equal measures of citric acid to water by weight. They're pretty close, though, so you could use a volume measure - but if you do that, then you need to pack down the citric acid. If you were to use 1/3 cup of water and 1/3 cup of citric acid, packed down, combine and dissolve the CA, (may have to use a little heat, I do) - then that's close enough to your 50% measure.
I'm not entirely sure what you're doing wrong. Are you sure you have a 28% sodium chlorite mixture (by weight)? Have you kept it out of UV light since making it? (I keep mine in a cupboard) - My understanding is that citric acid is only good for about 2 years - how old is your citric acid? I'm hoping that Steve will come in here with more suggestions, because I use SC in flakes and I'm thinking you use the powder - and he has more experience with that.. I know that when I make my 28% citric acid mixture, it also starts cloudy when I add the distilled water. I have to dissolve it, again, with heat on an electric burner on low.

Thank you Pam! I am using the Sodium Chlorite "flakes". I don’t know how old they are. Maybe that’s the reason that the MMS1 I’m making is coming out so weak in color, and much less gas odor. I make sure I keep it out of the light. All of the components are kept in dark solid containers inside other dark solid containers inside a cupboard. When I prepare the MMS1 I do it at night, with artificial incandescent light, so as to not take any chances with any light coming in the window. I am going to try buying new "flakes", and see what happens.
