Unfortunately it needs to be the high dose. I can commiserate. I have 2 useless bottles of the 1-10 range, myself.

for the 50% citric acid, just use an equal measure of citric acid (tamped down) and distilled water - that makes a 50% solution, or close enough to make no never mind (as we say in Texas

I simply don't have any glass jars I can get a shot glass into. Must it be glass? I have 2 quart plastic yogurt containers with lids. Would the temperate of the atmosphere where the jar with the shot glass in it effect it either favorably or negatively?

I picked-up some nice large pickle jars from the supermarket and used those. Worked wonderfully.

Ya Sandy, there HAS to be like a container store, or a kitchen store in your area where they sell all kinds of glass containers .... no ?

I bought a glass container with a metal lid. Then I bought a plastic container with the same size plastic lid and switched lids. Worked great.
